Description
Rare early 110 supplied new in RHD to Zambia; replacement
3.9 V8 petrol engine; lovely patina; seating for 12; power steering; stainless
steel sports exhaust; lots to like
As the Heritage Certificate
confirms, this rare early 110 was built in March 1984 as a RHD model
finished in Trident Green with a Limestone top and was destined for the export
market, being supplied new to a dealership in Lusaka, Zambia. It came back to
the UK fairly shortly afterwards in 1987.
Originally fitted
with a 2.5 diesel engine, it now has a much more effective 3.9-litre petrol V8
under the bonnet which should give it plenty of go and it looks like the carbs
have been rebuilt. The speedo shows 165,192 miles, although there is no way of
knowing how many miles have been done with the current
engine.
Still wearing what looks to be
the original paintwork, it looks to be in good shape for a
41-year-old and the chassis looks reassuringly
solid, although there are a couple of welded plates toward the
rear.
Starting, driving and stopping
while with us, it seems to power along nicely with the five-speed gearbox. Other
features include a stainless sports exhaust, power steering and tinted
glass. The interior has some signs of wear but has room for loads of
passengers, six up front with bench seats for another six or more in
the back.
Being a 1984 vehicle, this is
now free to tax and no MOT needed although it was last tested (and passed) in
February 2024.
