Description
Regularly used and unrestored;
period Robin Rew fast road engine; 4-speed manual with overdrive; driven 70
miles to the sale
This 1979
Reliant Scimitar GTE SE6a 3000cc Ford Essex V6 benefited from a period modified
engine built by Robin Rew of Silverstone to fast road specification with an
uprated 4-speed manual overdrive gearbox and rear Salisbury 4HA axle.
This is an unrestored example of this marque
with original interior and spent most of the 80's travelling between the UK and
Monaco (note the rear period MC decal) Although it could be driven straight away
this car would benefit from a body refurbishment in the future to truly show off
the classic fibreglass lines of ther GTE. We understand that it was driven
over 70 miles to Leominster without a hiccup and keeping up with modern
traffic.
Extensive mechanical works took place in
the late 80's including the replacement of its drivetrain. The car comes with a
large amount of history in a folder with MOTs and receipts showing some of the
work carried out mostly in the early to late 80s but some other later receipts
are present.
Mothballed throughout the 90's and
then recommissioned in the early 00's, this is a car that now sees regular
use.
