Description
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Convertible (R129) complete with hardtop
in Pearl Blue Metallic with Mushroom Leather
interior.
This
1993 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Convertible is an exercise in balance. The R129 series
set the standard for Mercedes roadsters with its clean lines, subtle curves, and
impeccable proportions. The front end features a long hood, giving the car a
powerful presence, while the short rear deck creates a dynamic, athletic
profile. The sloping windshield and chrome grille add to the car’s understated
luxury, while the overall appearance is both refined and
aggressive.
In
1993, the 300SL Convertible came with a power-operated soft top that folded
neatly into the rear compartment. This top can be easily raised or lowered with
the push of a button, and the fit is so precise that there’s little wind noise
even when it’s down. The convertible top’s functionality made the car feel open
and airy, while the interior remained well insulated from outside noise when the
roof was up, offering a quiet and serene cabin experience this car also benefits
from the hardtop which can ensure this car can be used all year round in all
weathers.
Under
the hood of this 300SL Convertible lies a 3.0 litre inline six cylinder
engine, which produces around 227 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. This
engine may not be the most powerful in its class, but it is certainly smooth,
refined, and more than capable of delivering the performance expected of a
Mercedes-Benz. The current owner has just changed the head gasket with many
pictures to prove how well the job was completed and on top of that a new
battery was fitted only a few weeks ago.
The car was driven here over 50 miles by
the current keeper, who reluctantly has decided to sell the car due to storage
issues, the SRS light is currently on, but this does not seem to affect the
drive of the car. The Mercedes comes with lots of history and the service
book showing that it has been regularly maintained with a written list of jobs
the current owner has carried out since his ownership.
