Part of a considerable private collection; deceased estate; owned by
the family since 2016; presented in Sand over Burgundy; cherished plate
included
Produced between 1965 and 1966, the
Bentley S3 was the final model in the marque’s S-series saloons. Replacing the
S2, it featured quad headlamps, a marginally higher-compression V8 engine, and
subtle interior refinements, while retaining Bentley’s characteristic smooth
ride and craftsmanship. Celebrated for its understated elegance, the S3 remains
a notable example of mid-1960s British luxury motoring.
Delivered new to Charles Follet Ltd. of London in 1965, this S3 is
finished in its original and striking Sand over Burgundy colour scheme. It has
had just seven registered keepers, the last two belonging to the same family
since 2016, and forms part of their collection of Bentleys, Aston Martins, and
Jaguars, also offered in this sale as part of a deceased
estate.
As one would expect of a Bentley
delivered new to London in the 1960s, this S3 was particularly well specified,
featuring full electric windows, combined parking and blinking lights, a full
set of Dunlop tubeless tyres, and two ‘Butler’ under-bonnet lights, to name just
a few.
Having seen relatively little use in
recent years, the car last had an MOT in 2015 at 44,445 miles, passing with no
advisories. With the current mileage showing 46,771, it appears to have covered
only minimal distance since, providing reassurance for the next owner. While the
mileage cannot be completely verified, the MOT history suggests the car has
averaged only a few thousand miles per year and has been used
regularly.
This potential low mileage is
reflected in the overall condition of the car. The paintwork is very
presentable, showing no major marks or scratches and retaining good depth and
shine. Chromework is also strong for its age, responding well to a quick polish.
The original tan hide has worn particularly well, with no rips or tears noted
and the veneer remains suitably glossy, giving the impression of a
top-of-the-range Bentley.
Accompanying the car
are old MOT certificates and the original owner’s manual, as well as numerous
letters from Harvey Walsh Ltd., Rolls-Royce, and Bentley specialists, indicating
careful maintenance. The car has been starting and driving on site for photos
and videos, with nothing obvious of note reported.
In summary, this S3 presents as a smart and highly usable example of
one of Bentley’s top saloons, finished in a striking factory colour combination
with suggested reasonable mileage. It remains a strong example of the marque and
would make an excellent addition to any collection.
