1983 in Edinburgh, Scotland, this genuine Range Rover Classic Two Door is a
highly desirable early example, powered by the 3.5-litre V8 engine with
Stromberg carburetors and paired with the sought-after LT77 five-speed manual
gearbox. Built on 8th August 1983 and registered on 13th September 1983 to
S.M.T. Limited, Greenock, it represents the archetypal specification of
Britain's original luxury 4x4.
Affectionately known as
"George", this handsome example is finished in Arctic White with a beautifully
presented Exmoor Trim 'Herringbone' interior. Showing just 54,966 miles, it
presents in stunning condition and benefits from careful ownership, dehumidified
storage and significant recent expenditure.
The current vendor
purchased the vehicle in January 2022 and has maintained it regardless of cost.
In 2022, the front and rear axle oils and gearbox oil were renewed, together
with carburetor set-up work carried out by BHP Performance. During 2023, a new
bonnet, door skins, rear tailgate and boot lid were fitted, while in December
2024 the radiator received a new core. Most recently serviced in May 2025 at
54,158 miles, the vehicle has continued to be maintained annually and was last
MOT tested in October 2025.
Now qualifying as both
Historic Vehicle tax exempt and MOT exempt, having attained this status in June
2024, the Range Rover nevertheless has continued to benefit from regular
servicing and MOT testing. The V5C records six former keepers.
Has been
in weekly use and driven to the sale, complete with two keys and a fully
stocked genuine tool kit.
Highly regarded as one of the
most influential 4x4 vehicles ever produced, early two-door Range Rovers
continue to enjoy strong enthusiast following and increasing collectability.
