The Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet is an increasingly sought-after modern
classic, combining the superb balance of the 944's front-engined,
rear-wheel-drive chassis with the added appeal of open-top motoring. With its
larger 3.0-litre engine and excellent five-speed manual gearbox, the S2 offers
an impressive blend of performance, refinement and everyday
usability.
This 1990 example is finished in
Guards Red with a black leather interior and is powered by the 2,969cc petrol
engine coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. First registered in August
1990, it has had just two former keepers and has been in the current ownership
since March 1991 – an exceptional period of over 35 years with the same
owner.
The car currently displays 113,551 miles,
supported by the MOT history, and is accompanied by its original handbook. The
history file contains an impressive 22 service stamps, with the most recent
recorded at 113,480 miles in September 2023.
Having been off the road for approximately three years, the Porsche
has recently undergone some mild recommissioning, including replacement of the
fuel pump and fuel lines, preparing it for further use.
The vendor drove
the car over 45 miles to the sale and reports that it starts, drives and stops
as expected, as demonstrated during its journey to site and while on site for
photography and filming. It is offered with an MOT valid until June
2027.
With remarkably low ownership, a
well-documented service history and the desirable S2 specification, this Guards
Red Cabriolet represents a particularly appealing example of Porsche's
increasingly collectible 944 range and an excellent opportunity for the
enthusiast or collector.
