The Land
Rover was fully rebuilt during 2020; fitted with a new galvanised chassis; stainless-steel exhaust; Fairey
overdrive; will require a mild recommissioning
This Series II Land
Rover with 12 former keepers has been in current ownership since July 2009.
First registered in July 1960, it is powered by a diesel engine with four-speed
manual transmission and Fairey overdrive.
The Land Rover was fully
rebuilt during 2020, including the fitting of a new galvanised chassis,
stainless-steel exhaust and Fairey overdrive. Originally Red and Green, it was
repainted Green in July 1996.
The speedometer currently
shows just 5,801 miles, although this is believed to be incorrect, with the true
mileage thought to be more in the region of 105,801
miles.
Unfortunately, since the
restoration the vehicle has been left outside for several years and the elements
have taken their toll on the paintwork. We are advised that the diesel injection
pump is currently not pumping and appears to have become stuck through lack of
use. The vendor advises that the engine will run briefly with the use of Easy
Start, and recommissioning will therefore be
required.
The car is accompanied by a
large quantity of receipts detailing some of the work carried out over the
years, together with a selection of old MOT
certificates.
An interesting restoration
project with the benefit of a galvanised chassis and overdrive, now requiring
further recommissioning to return it to the road.
