1986 Audi 90 Quattro
4-door saloon; 2 Former Keepers; 20V Engine Conversion; Quattro 4WD; 111,822
Miles; First Registered March 1986; original engine and wheels included with the
car
A rare
opportunity to acquire an Audi 90 Quattro from the early days of Audi's
legendary four-wheel-drive system. This example has been in the current
ownership since October 1993, representing more than three decades with the same
keeper.
Originally fitted with the 2,226cc 10-valve
five-cylinder engine, the car has subsequently been upgraded with the more
powerful 20-valve five-cylinder engine. The original 10V engine is included in
the sale and is supplied separately on a pallet.
The car is finished in Alpine White with the
original Grey and Black Quattro cloth interior and retains ABS. It is also
equipped with the factory-fitted sunroof. A Pipercross replacement panel air
filter has been fitted, together with a big-bore Scorpion stainless-steel full
exhaust system.
The original 14-inch wheels have been replaced
with 16-inch multi-spoke items, although the original wheels are also included
in the sale, together with the associated wheel bolts. A new headlamp is also
included in the box, and the car comes with two keys.
Currently showing 111,822 miles, the
history file contains the original service book with an impressive 16 service
stamps, the last recorded at 106,800 miles in May 2001. The original handbooks
are also present, together with a selection of receipts dating from the early
years of ownership.
The MOT expired in November 2021 and the car
appears to have covered fewer than 100 miles during the last seven years.
Despite this prolonged period of limited use, the Audi has been started, driven
and stopped while on site for photography and filming.
We did notice that the engine idles
at slightly higher-than-normal revs and hunts a little. We recommend that this
is investigated and rectified before the car is returned to regular road
use.
These early
Quattro models are becoming increasingly rare and desirable, particularly in
four-door saloon form. With its long-term ownership, 20V engine conversion,
original engine and wheels included, factory-fitted sunroof and substantial
period history, this represents an intriguing project for the Audi
enthusiast.
Further information is awaited from the vendor
and the catalogue entry will be updated when received.
